NEW classes for 2013 at The Showgirl Academy..

Looking for a NY’s resolution? Why not make a Vintage dance class at The Showgirl Academy just that..

From a master-class in Burlesque Balloon Popping to Solo Jive, we are bound to have something on offer that suits you!

Learn the beautiful art of Burlesque..
Discover your alter-ego as you explore the glamorous world of burlesque and burly-cabaret. You will learn the staples of posing, peeling, teasing, characterisation, prop work and of course the fine art of tassel twirling! You will pose like Marilyn, peel like Gypsy Rose Lee, tease like Immodesty and discover that inner diva, femme fatale, comedian or ‘bad girl’ – all in a day’s work for a budding burlesque artist!

Improve your Jive technique or expand on your existing dance repertoire as you learn the retro style of Jive dancing..
Learn the fast paced flicks, kicks and twists of the original style of jive dancing from the 50’s (as seen on Strictly Come Dancing). No partner needed!

Fancy a little cheeky Charleston..
Take a trip back to the roaring 1920’s as you learn the vintage dance moves that were once danced by the immoral flappers! The ragtime-jazz music is infectious and you won’t be able to stop smiling as you learn the quirky and witty Charleston steps, including grannies knee caps, the hitchhiker and the shoe shine!
